Our Story
Dedication and Service
While completing her academic studies in 2014, our founder, Ms. Kisha Ward, was tasked with locating a problem within her community and finding a solution. Ms. Kisha immediately identified a long history of recidivism that was present. She identified unemployment, lack of rehabilitation, and inadequate housing as three primary factors affecting recidivism. Ms. Kisha had a vision at this point and developed what she entitled, “A TurnAround”, a solution that creates a multi facet resource center for previously incarcerated males providing full-time, stable employment, rehabilitative services, and permanent housing placement. Ms. Kisha submitted her research paper on her findings and received an outstanding grade from her professor; however, the work still needed to be done in the community.

After much persistence from the Holy Spirit, in 2022 Ms. Kisha committed to bring the vision forth and to move forward with “A TurnAround”. She modified the name to Sonnyview ATA representing the hope of facilitating a fresh “Sonny-view” for previously incarcerated males seeking assistance through the organization. This is a view made new through the eyes of Christ and emphasizes that anyone can experience a new outlook regardless of what they have done, where they have been, or what they believe. ATA (A TurnAround) is a representation that declares regardless of how long or how many times an individual has gone in an opposing direction, Sonnyview ATA can aid in a turnaround. People can experience a new way and a new life; A life that they are proud of and a life that the community is proud of. This is Sonnyview ATA.

It is incredible how a vision can flourish into a dream and a dream grow into something truly special. Sonnyview ATA is rooted in the belief that we all have an inherent responsibility to make a meaningful difference in our community. With a variety of developing projects and a community of volunteer staff, we harness our skills and resources to successfully achieve our goals.

Since Ms. Kisha’s commitment to the vision, Sonnyview ATA is gracefully growing stronger and greater through the strength of the Lord and selfless members of the community. Sonnyview ATA is committed to changing the lives of previously incarcerated males in need of a turnaround.
